Background

Since launching in 2017, Stake had steadily grown their global footprint through a comprehensive sports and entertainment strategy, including Premier League sponsorship, UFC sponsorship and various brand ambassador partners including Drake and Sergio Aguero. Now, with sights set on LATAM growth, the brand wanted to expand their sports sponsorship portfolio to increase their brand presence within the region.

The Playmaker Difference

Playmaker used their local market intelligence to navigate the Peruvian football ecosystem to identify available front of shirt opportunities in the league. While the other top 6 teams in Peru all had an existing shirt & betting partner, we identified an opening at Melgar, following the culmination of their previous shirt partnership. We worked diligently with Stake to negotiate an optimal rights package that would drive mainstream awareness across Peru via an exclusive front-of-shirt branding position.

The Impact

As front of shirt sponsor of Melgar’s men’s and women’s team, Stake scaled their presence in South America as the main partner of a Peruvian title contender and a team competing to feature in the Libertadores/Sudiamericana. As the brand attempted to grow their presence in LATAM, the partnership provided them with a platform to directly connect with fans and engage with grassroots initiatives to contribute to the development of football at all levels in the region.
